My Story

A Little about what Yoga with Bren offers:

Yoga with Bren offers a variety of services. I am certified through Yoga Alliance in hatha yoga, breath work and flexibility. I provide group classes, private sessions, and I also offer on-site corporate yoga.

I also teach an accredited yoga course at Missouri Western State University. Students can enroll to earn credit in the Exercise Science department.

My bachelor's degree in Biology gave me the opportunity to teach anatomy and physiology prior to opening my studio. Having a deeper knowledge of the human body and how it moves and functions provides a better understand and next-level perspective when teaching yoga.

My experience in corporate yoga is top tier. I have provided yoga sessions for the military Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program where I have had the opportunity to work with deployers and their families, instructing them on how to utilize yoga as a coping outlet.  As a veteran, my 23 years of service in the Missouri Air National Guard has given me a heightened insight to the experience of being deployed.

I have also utilized my yoga expertise to help individuals through their recovery by teaching at a substance recovery program at a local St. Joseph facility.

The overall focus of my yoga teaching is founded upon generating flexibility, developing strength, finding calm within chaos and maintaining wellness. The end goal that I have for my clients is to assist them in gaining vibrant energy, bring about ease of movement, and give rise to endurance in work and in play.

What is yoga to me?

For me, yoga has been more than just a fantastic way to gain strength and improve my fitness level. It has been an avenue in finding calm within the chaos that the daily grind can bring. Practicing yoga gives me the freedom to let go of the small stuff, when challenges present themselves. It allows me to have time to be just me while I’m in the studio. Yoga helps me to feel stronger within my body and in my mind too. Yoga gives me the insight to go deeper into my faith and allows me to let God take the wheel.

Why should I do yoga?

It is without a doubt that when you lose your ease of movement, you then begin the cascade toward losing your independence. Yoga can help to maintain and even improve your level of mobility and flexibility that you possess. With basic movements, stretching and mobility exercises on a weekly basis, a person can surpass the common theme we are seeing in society, which is people becoming immobile and ill at an alarming early age. Coming to the Bungalow for weekly classes gives a person the opportunity to invest in themselves and grasp onto a path that leads to wellness.

How can I begin?

In teaching yoga, my goal is to draw people toward a positive mindset of ‘high performance aging’ and helping them become dedicated to that premise.  You can take your first steps to this mindset by booking a session with me! Yoga with Bren offers the first group class as a complimentary class. Join us at the Bungalow for your free first class!
